Looks Can Be Deceiving
Review Date: 9/29/2007 Reviewer: Anonymous
When my boyfriend and I first took a tour of this apartment community, we fell in love with it. After moving in, we noticed that if we didn’t make it home before 5pm that parking was pretty much non-existence. Parking became such a problem that people would park along the curbs, in handicap spaces, in front of garages, or wherever they could. This led to the complex issuing out hang tangs (which didn’t help because parking still sucked). My boyfriend ended up with a huge orange sticker on his window one morning because he parked on the curb (he had no where else to park), he was furious because it took him forever to get it off of his window and the Arbors said they didn’t see his hang tag. Another day we came home and seen a domestic disturbance notice on our door. When I called to explain to that we had my boyfriend’s 2 yr old son for the weekend, I was told that I didn’t inform them that we had any children because he was not listed on the lease. I explained to the staff that my boyfriend’s son was not on the lease because he did not live with us. I was then told not to worry about the notice because it was something they had to do & it's nothing serious. The next month, we received the same notice & once again had to explain about our 2 yr old. I was told that they had forgotten about that but not to worry, it won’t happen again. We never received our 30 day notice about our lease being up but when it ended, we received a notice saying "your lease has ended and you can renew it for the same rate or you can sign up for a month to month lease for a slightly higher rate". Well we renewed our lease but quickly started searching for another apt. When we found our new apt., we gave our 30 day notice. Our new apt. asked us to extend our lease since our apt was not going to be finished on time (under going construction). We were able to get our lease extended for another month. Our new apt. called again & asked us to extend again. When I called the office, they said "that’s fine, just giving us another notice on Aug. 1st...You can do a month to month lease". Well, on Aug. 1st, the Arbors called my sister-in-law, my brother, (my sister-in-law and my brother were listed as emergency contacts) and I saying that we were supposed to be moved out of the apartment and the key should have been turned in because someone else is scheduled to move in. I then had to remind them that I was told I could do a month to month lease as long as I turned in my 30 day notice on Aug. 1st...I also explained that I was moving to a brand new apt. community that was still being constructed and that was the reason for delay on my move out date, which is why I needed the month to month lease. After this incident, my mom called me worried because she had mailed me a big package a week before & I didn’t call her saying I received it (because I didn’t). When I went to the office, the package was there & I was told,"We’ve been meaning to call you to tell you about your package but we've been so busy that we probably forgot". About a week after that, I was notified for the last time that my new apt. wasn’t ready. Well the Arbors told me that I could not renew my month to month lease because that had rented out my apt. and there was nothing they could do. Lucky for me, my new apt. community understood and offered me and my boyfriend a 2 bdrm apt (we originally had a 1 bdrm) discounted for 12 months and the 1st month was $200 off of the rent plus they offered us moving help! I LOVE my new apt. but I would NEVER recommend anyone to move to the Arbors because once they convince you to move in, they are no longer the friendly faces that you thought they were, but they are very rude, inconsiderate, and unorganized!!! |
