Apartment Review for Pleasant Woods Apartments - Little Rock, AR

Before writing this, I read the previous reviews and am surprised at the level of animosity directed towards Pleasant Woods. Generally, when you sign a contract saying that you will have rent paid within the 3 day grace period, you shouldn't complain about being charged late fees when your rent is....late. Anyway, I really enjoyed my stay at Pleasant Woods. I happened to get in on a good move-in special they were having last August (1 free month's rent) and they applied the free month to my 6 month lease - which brought my rent down quite a bit. It also included the washer/dryer ($30 per month fee - totally worth it). Safety: Not once did I feel unsafe when walking out to my car (except maybe when there were lurkers walking down the hill from the Pleasant Ridge apartments). Parking: Parking started to get annoying towards the end of my stay, but that was because they needed to do some work on the flight of stairs on the other side of my building. That kind of forced everyone to park on one side and it filled up quickly. Wasn't like that my whole stay there, but it did get a little annoying. Other than that, there are plenty of parking spaces. Appearance: The grounds are always well-kept and the buildings look nice. There are some apartment complexes in town that I'd be embarrassed to invite friends over to visit, but Pleasant Woods wasn't one. Office Staff: The staff members were very professional and accommodating. While they may be strict with their rent policies, it is understandable - you do sign a contract after all. They always responded to my needs and always answered the phone during business hours. Susie in particular made a special effort to remember me and what was going on in my life (getting married in May). Maintenance: They did a good job - responded quickly the few times I needed them. During the freezes this past winter (2010), they even salted the driveways and cleared the snow/ice. Because the apartment complex is very hilly, this was really great - I didn't hear of any other apartment complex in LR doing that for their residents. Condition of Unit: The 1 bedroom/1 bath I had was quite small, not much more than 500 sq feet, but it was perfect for my needs. There was new carpet and new appliances. However, there were some structural problems (bathroom door wouldn't close all the way, dishwasher issues, patio door wouldn't latch completely), but they were minor to the point of being moot. Noise level: In any apartment, you should expect noise from your neighbors. I had a second floor apartment, so I got the "best" of both worlds - randy neighbors upstairs and an elderly, hacking neighbor downstairs. It wasn't that bad, though. My apartment was in a building that was in the back, by the tree line, and was therefore VERY quiet. No traffic noise at all Overall, I would definitely recommend these apartments to students, young professionals, and singles. For the price and area, you get a really good deal. I didn't want to move out, but they didn't offer 3 bedrooms, which is what my fiance wanted for us.
