Apartment Review
Nice apartment, but immoral business practices
Review Date: 9/26/2005 Reviewer: Anonymous
We were pleased when we found Lanai; it's in a nice area of town and well upkept. We were told when we signed the lease that there was "no way" the rent would be raised when we renewed, if we took a six month lease. We enjoyed living there, though our neighbors were loud and the utilities (not included in the rent) were four times what we'd paid in a larger house. However, we were notified at the end of the lease that our rent would be raised by $25/month. We called and were told that nothing could be done, then we wrote a letter asking that they make good on their promise or we planned to contact consumer protection agencies. We were served with a notice that they were terminating our tenancy. We called them on their dishonesty, so they kicked us out. Complaints are pending with the BBB and Attorney General, but if you want an apartment complex that puts residents first and does not engage in immoral business practices, do not rent from Lanai. |
